Alabama Paper Reports Yet Another Iraq Vet Suicide -- With Mother Watching
-----

The headline is similar to so many others lately: "Family pushing for changes after soldier's suicide."

It tells how one Dorothy Screws "witnessed her only son, U.S. Army Pvt. Tommie Edward Jones, commit suicide right before her eyes six weeks ago in Colorado. She says the Army, which promised to be there for Screws and her family to deal with the loss, has yet to provide assistance.

-----

One thing Screws and her family did not know until after her son’s death — which occurred March 25 at Fort Carson, Colo. — was that Jones, 27, had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from when he fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007.

Jones mentioned a few of the traumatic events he experienced in Iraq to his mother shortly before his death.

“He said, ‘I wake up every morning angry,’” Screws said. “He said, ‘My body is here but my mind is in Iraq.’”

Sad - and these soldiers will never be counted as the larger toll of this stupid war!

1. I just found out a family member shot himself in front of his father.
The young man had finished two tours in Iraq. Words fail me...I am unable to express my anger. Can we just focus on ending this horror???

3. This is why our presidential candidate is sooo important
Will they really do what they say and get the troops outa there? We know McCain won't. With the media prevented from being at Dover when the dead return is so disrespectful to what they died for. We can deal with taxes and low incomes better than sending our loyal troops to a war that was started from lies. Oil is the reason, yet we can't bother to strongly identify the problem, ugh.

2. Five years of fighting and the BS war continues??
Those troops have got to be wondering by now if anyone if paying attention. The few guys that I have heard of or from that have returned from Iraq don't say much. They seem to ignore the truth. All their friends ask me not to say anything negative about Iraq when they return?! How can they also deal with being a traitor in their minds if they should believe that this war is for nothing and destroying a country?

I thought Viet Nam was bad but this is probably worse.

4. Did you hear about the soldier killed recently in Afghanistan?
Poor guy was on his 7th tour! Wonder if he was stop-lossed?
