David Hicks gag order expires

A gag order imposed on the only Guantanamo Bay inmate convicted of terrorism offences, the Australian David Hicks, has expired.

Hicks was captured with Taleban forces in Afghanistan in 2001 and spent five years in Guantanamo Bay before pleading guilty to supporting terrorism.

He was sent back to Australia to complete a nine month prison sentence and was freed in December.

The US authorities barred Hicks from speaking to the media.

Now David Hicks has been inundated with offers to tell his story.

4. You would almost expect Judith Miller or one of the other administration-serving reporters

to try to get the story. Hope he'll take time to know which ones are more destructive than the others.

I hope he gets his chance to get his story out and to NOT be murdered. He most surely is owed his freedom, and his privacy, out of the reach of any more monsters who would harm him.
