Detroit Free Press gives AWOL Bush a pass
The "liberal" Detroit Free Press editorializes this AM:

"Let the record show, as the White House says it does, that President George W. Bush met the military service requirements of his era in the Texas Air National Guard. Nothing less and certainly nothing more."

This really depresses me, as it simply ignores the facts.

1. I wonder....
how they explain of there being no record that Bush showed up at the Alabama National Guard and no one remembers him being there....this is what they mean by Bush meeting his military service requirement?

2. I have a problem...
with it. He got paid for 9 days of service over a year when he should have been paid for approx. 50??? I am not real big on this whole issue, but for those that care, they had better check the records out.

3. Bush apparently is simply taken at face value
I cannot understand this. The Free Press folks obviously believe that such things as homework by reporters is a thing of the past. Knight Ridder, the parent company, has done some good reporting on the Bushistas from time to time. Perhaps the editorial page wants some "turkee from preznit" at next photo op.

I wonder how other "local" papers are viewing this?
