Outsourcing Leaves Some Des Moines Register Employees Without Jobs

February 27, 2008--The Des Moines Register is joining the ranks of companies sending work overseas. The Register is offering a voluntary early buyout to employees in the art department.

The Register has signed a contract with a company that uses workers in India to create advertisements. The move will impact fewer than ten workers. The Register says readers and advertisers won't notice any changes in the paper's appearance.
