Cubin blames bad science on 'Clinton folks' -- Wyoming DUers??
This is appalling and beyond the pale. Any DUers represented by this person?

casper star tribune

<snip>
U.S. Rep. Barbara Cubin, R-Wyo., is waging a battle against "bad science" and "scientific opinions" in public lands decisions, she announced this week, citing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife's decision to list the Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act as a triggering event.The battles are part of a larger war of political ideology surrounding public lands and environmental policy, according to Cubin's spokesman, Joe Milczewski.

"I think it stems from the fact that EPA is still staffed with a lot of Clinton folks," Milczewski said. "You can't undo eight years of Clinton administration work in three years of the Bush administration. It's not possible."

</snip>
Milczeski went on to say:
<snip> How many bureaucrats are working in the EPA building here? If you've seen it, it's a city block long. So how long does it take to clear those folks out?"
</snip>

Does anyone know anything about Cubin? Does Cubin realize that career scientists, engineers and lawyers do not turn over when the White House does?

This congresswoman and her spokesperson must be total idiots.

2. Thanks, but....what does that say about Wyoming?
I hate to draw conclusions, but from what you say, well, I guess there just must not be many Dems there.

Fair?

thanks

3. Dems in WY: a handful in Casper, Laramie, Cheyenne and Jackson....
Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 05:07 AM by hlthe2b
that's about it. Cubin, though is Repug....

And, as in Texas, an electable Democrat from WY would scarcely be recognized as a Democrat anywhere else. Highly conservative, and fiercely independent state--bordering on libertarian. Dems DO intermittently gain the Governorship, as is the case currently.

Our DU Dems from WY have quite the challenge.

4. This caught my eye:
"You can't undo eight years of Clinton administration work in three years of the Bush administration. It's not possible."

Actually, they HAVE done it. They turned a surplus into a deficit, destroyed our standing and credibility around the world, tried to make the U.N. irrelevant, killed thousands of people based on a lie, destroyed the American dream for millions, lost 3 million jobs - I don't have to keep going. Chimp has done a very good job of undoing eight years of President Clinton's work.

5. Cubin - true stories of a total idiot
http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2002/09/diddly_10.html

She arrived in Congress already famous in Wyoming for passing around penis-shaped cookies to her male colleagues in the state legislature, which she later explained by saying, "People sometimes do things that they wouldn't do in front of their mother." Then, during the Florida recount battle, she screamed in a meeting, "We are bending over and taking it from the Democrats!" When some of her colleagues were alarmed by the rather un-family-values-esque image, she snapped, "Quiet down or you'll get a spanking."

And unlike in the case of Mr. Lott, Mrs. Cubin's remarks seem to have provoked barely a word of protest from her Republican colleagues. For fear that some may think they are taken out of context, we reprint the offending part here in its entirety: "My sons are 25 and 30. They are blond-haired and blue-eyed. One amendment today said we could not sell guns to anybody under drug treatment. So does that mean if you go into a black community, you cannot sell a gun to any black person, or does that mean because my -- "

At this point, Rep. Melvin Watt (D-N.C.) demanded that her words be stricken from the record as inappropriate. You might think that Mrs. Cubin then would have realized she had equated African Americans with drug addicts and apologized as profusely as possible. Instead, she told Mr. Watt, who is African American, that she wanted "to apologize to my colleague for his sensitivities." When Mr. Watt noted, correctly, that it was not a matter of whether his feelings were hurt but of "using words that are insulting to the entire African American race," Mrs. Cubin declined the opportunity to back down. "Mr. Chairman," she said, "I do not withdraw my words."

Rep Barbara Cubin from Wyoming is a real nut. While talking politics with financial donors she announced out of the blue,"I know what Victoria's Secret is. She's a slut."

6. Once Upon a Time
Once upon a time I was a Democratic state committeeman in Wyoming, and worked on the 1976 campaign staff of the late Congressman Teno Roncalio (accord to James Michner: " Teno is more popular than God in Wyoming.")

I knew Dick Cheney and his family briefly in the late 70s.

Wyoming used to have a slogan something like "Wyoming - What America was like in the 1890s!" And that about says it all. I've never encounter a bunch of people more determined to vote against their own self interest out of sheer stubbornness (although they think they are highy principled).

Like the mean, cold Cheney, Cubin has a streak of downright viciousness in her. But unlike Cheney, Cubin is a lunatic in the crazy sense of the word. If Bill Clinton or John Kerry ever made a big deal about the world being round, Cubin would probably start talking about bad science and that the earth is actually flat.

I left several years ago, I wouldn't go back.
