The turnout at the Paris Democrats Abroad caucus on Friday night was called "historic." Besides the record crowd, some 300-400 US citizens registered to vote--and voter registration wasn't even the main purpose of the evening.
The caucus was originally scheduled to take place in the parish hall of the American Church, but the crowd was so huge the caucus had to convene in the church sanctuary itself. I couldn't see everything that was going on because I was working a voter registration table, but I think it was standing room only even in the sanctuary. Meanwhile, the parish hall was barely able to hold just the Dems who turned out to support Howard Dean when they assembled for their Presidential Preference Group.
