If we, as a progressive community, are honest with ourselves, it is plainly obvious that the blogosphere has become an extension of corporate-owned media. Well, with a twist: It now serves the corporate interests of either the Republican or Democratic Party. I don't want to be associated with that. I want to be part of something that is about the people and their interest, so I will probably start a blog with that simple objective.

First, I want to thank EVERYONE for their kind words of support and encouragement. The decision to end something that I've poured three years of my life into, wasn't easy. But I started this site in hopes of countering the Republican propaganda machines, such as Limbaugh and FOX News. I think the PDB accomplished that goal.

The difference today, as I see the progression of the blogosphere, is that most so-called progressive sites have sold out to the Democratic Party establishment. It has become nothing more than a -- when it is politically convenient -- left-leaning version of FOX News.

2. Strange! I just quit reading PDB.

For over a year, PDB had been my "first thing in the morning" site. (I build up to DU, which I go to last.) It was a site that collected links to really great articles exposing the dark underside of the neocons and their evil, un-American words and acts. It was so great that I even made a monetary contribution, something I usually do only for DU. (Too many sites, too little cash.)

Then, about three weeks ago, the tone suddenly changed to almost 100% Hillary-hate. The "moderator" (who is not very moderate) issued several scathing anti-Hill, anti-Bill editorials that could have been written by a drunken Tom Delay (or his ghostwriter). Aghast, I sent an e-mail asking what had happened. The guy wrote back and said basically "Hillary is evil, I don't care if you read my site or not." I immediately deleted all my links to PDB and have never gone back.

Now, not two weeks later, the site is shutting down! I think there is some kind of backstory here that we will never hear about.
