"Bush Feels The Heat" - MUST READ CBSnews editorial
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/02/06/politics/main598456.shtml

Maybe the SCLM are finally getting the message...?!

"President Bush's sinking standing with the voters has become a source of concern for the White House and GOP officials.

- snip -

The president scheduled his State of the Union speech to come one day after the Iowa caucus in a bid to deflect attention from the Democrats. But his speech was widely viewed as a disappointment, and it failed to boost his standing in the polls.

- snip -

Iraq

The president's rationale for going to war has been seriously undercut by former U.S. weapons inspector David Kay, who has declared Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. White House officials had expected Kay to fade into the woodwork when he left his post, but that hasn't been the case. Kay has testified before Congress and granted several media interviewrs.

- and - (for me) - they "money shot" !

The economy has lost more than 2 million jobs since Mr. Bush took office, giving him the worst job creation record of any president since Herbert Hoover. Analysts say monthly payroll gains of 300,000 or more are needed for sustained job growth, and the economy remains far from that mark.

1. It's the economy, stupid
Bush can wave the DOMA, he can scream about 'national security', he can yell '911' until he's hoarse. But it won't make a bit of difference to those who have lost their jobs, fear they will lose their jobs, or are plain simply mad over the loss of overtime pay, etc, etc.

2. Presidential wanabbees
who the hell does CBS think they are writing for?

They would NEVER refer that way about a GOP candidate.

No the SCLM has not turned they are just worried that the pork will be over

The bosses know US history, and what is coming down the pike, if victory is ours in November is RE-REGULATION.

5. this administration
has already done so much damage to our country I don't recognize it aymore. Greed, pandering, self-rightousness, and downright dictatorial attitudes will be difficult for any Democratic president to overcome. Whoever our nominee is we must back him to the hilt. It may not be who each of us wants, but we have to give him all our courage and help.

3. The only way he can win now is by cheating.
If history is any indication, you can put money on it.

7. Blue Ribbon Panel
"The president has also moved to defuse the furor generated by Kay's statement that there are no weapons of mass destruction. Mr. Bush is appointing a blue-ribbon panel that will investigate the intelligence failure."

I'm not sure they got the color right -- instead of blue, shouldn't it be white -- as in whitewash?
