"Super Bowl of Sleaze" - not just Janet Jackson
Methinks some karmic justice is being meted out to CBS/Viacom for their censorship of PETA's and MoveOn's ads - FZ

Editors Note: One of the reasons Viacom (CBS) executives gave for rejecting the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal's commercial was that it was too sexually explicit. After watching what they did approve and the half time show, I am wondering what was in that ad. As for the MoveOn ad, many political issues were raised for all who watched CBS's three hour, highly politicized, corporate orgy. -smg

...As it happened, Bud Light set the standards for tastelessness and self-congratulatory humor...
(snip)
CBS chose to air a spot advertising the upcoming horror movie "Van Helsing" even though it contained extremely disturbing and graphic images of brutality and gore and despite the fact that it has yet to be rated by the Motion Picture Association of America. If the film were eventually to be rated NC-17, it would be contrary to network policy to carry any commercials for it... Based on excerpts shown, "Van Helsing" will earn an R, or Restricted, rating, meaning the film is considered suitable for those under 17 only if they are accompanied by a parent or other adult. The ad was wall-to-wall with monsters baring fangs and implied horrific violence.

So now Michael Powell of the FCC is calling on Congress to look into the Janet Jackson situation??? "Wha'up wid dat?"

A boob for a boob, I always say.

:evilgrin::evilgrin::evilgrin:

1. One other thing I noticed
Was that ad for "Cialis", the impotence drug. Did you catch the side effects they were listing? That last reference to seek medical attention immediately if "the effect" lasts 4 hours or longer? I'd have to say that was pretty explicit in and of itself, Janet's boob not withstanding. CBS has some 'splaining to do, I should think, about what they consider to be tasteful adverts.

I actually like your "boob for a boob" reference! I'd have to agree!

ROFPMPLMFRIGGINAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. yes, the "erections lasting long than 4 hours" comment
the statement was that erections lating longer than 4 hours were "rare" and something about you can have sex up to 36 hours after taking Cialis.

I too found that ad pretty explicit and I'm glad my daughter is not yet old enough to ask me "mommy, what's an erection?".

2. It never fails to astound me
We watch a sport where people crack heads for three hours. During the show, we are bombarded with drug ads, anti-drug ads, beer ads, violent movie ads, snack food ads, etc., and when, heaven forbid, an actual human breast is exposed for all of .3 seconds, an investigation must ensue and heavy duty fines must be imposed.

Think of the children! They saw a BOOB! A BOOB! Dear god, are we raising a nation of people with no moral compass? A BREAST WAS EXPOSED!! PROTECT YOURSELF! PROTECT YOUR FAMILY!

My one year old daughter suckles on a breast every day of her life. Let's hope it doesn't turn her into an ax murderer...

4. Great Post
You would have thought that Jackson's breast had murdered someone on live television considering all of the attention this incident is getting. I also "love" the fact that our tax dollars are going to be used to investigate this incident. It would be sad if more tax dollars were spent investigating Jackson's breast than 9/11.

5. Freaking out a bit much over the Van Helsing ad
"Monsters baring fangs," sure. But "extremely disturbing and graphic images of brutality and gore"? Somebody's imagination is definitely working overtime.

7. Superbowl of Sleaze
Amazing how an investigation into "titty-gate" moves quickly and the investigation about the leak
in the White House over CIA agent Valerie Plame is going at snail pace--so what's going on with
that investigation or is there still one?? Things that make you go hmm!

8. Patrick Fitzgerald is an excellent attorney you shoud not have to worry
about the leak at the whitehouse, that will not fade away as Buch might like Fitzgerald is one of the best and is not interested in who knows who.... etc... he just brought down the entire Republican party here in my lovely state of IL. including our Repub ex governor who now has 22 indictments against him hahahahahaha since Fitzgerald has indicted over 60 people here in Il (License for bribes) the state is now completely Dem except for Topinka (treasurer) GOtta love that guy
