I KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO BLAME CHENEY!!!!!!!!!
This latest buzz now about the "key" to this bogus Iraq inquiry being Cheney is so transparent. This idea is being floated out for a response check just like the idea that Cheney might be replaced by Guliani on the re-election ticket. So now that it seems that the masses wouldn't freak out about Guliani on the ticket, they can begin to pin all the fecal matter on Cheney as he gets ready to disappear into his bunker once and for all. And just watch the press pretend that with Cheney gone, Bush has "cleaned house" and made it right with the American people. They'll play that song for him and try like hell to help him get re-elected.

Not that I think ANY OF THIS really matters. I think it's all just pretext now that we have so much of this electronic voting around. Cuz when it all comes down to it, the integrity, or lack thereof, of that system is the ultimate decider.

1. good thinking....
This could be the "plan" for sure but how dumb are republicans (no need to answer...)to be so gullable. And if Cheney was smoked out - wouldn't/couldn't that mean war crimes trial and wouldn't Bush be dragged into that?? I think this would be a gamble since the ultimate result is how Bush would be exposed to be the puppet we always knew he was. The sad reality though is that countless lives were lost...and for what??? Why can't the dead soldiers' families start coming forward to scream?? I can't imagine what they're feeling...

2. This would allow them to sacrifice Cheney
since it appears he was the driving force behind cooking the intelligence.

3. The other day I saw a sign that Cheney may be gone
It was a Bush bumper sticker, only Bush, didn't mention Cheney at all. It had an American flag on the left side, on the right it said "Re-elect Bush in 2004".

They are going to wrap themselves around the flag and hope we don't notice that someone's missing.

4. Guliani is pro-choice and pro gays rights

That would make him unacceptable to the base of the Party.
They would need someone else if they're gonna dump Cheney.

5. It won't work the way they think, if that's what they're thinking.
It will only succeed in underscoring Bush's complete lack of any independence from those around him. It is and will be an issue of competence. Remember that passage from O'Niell's book when Bush was silenced by Rove about the tax cuts? Yeah, play that in a commercial. And it has the virtue of actually being true.

6. No. This won't happen - at least not the way you are thinking
Although it is true that Cheney and Rummy are at the center of the cooked intel, Bush has already public declared that Cheney is going with him to 2004. Additionally, loyalty only goes so far. Cheney won't take the fall for this decision if it means a federal investigation and criminal charges.

If they want to get Cheney off the ticket, this is how it'll go: Cheney will be seriously implicated by the media and democrats, yet staunchly defended by Bush. Unfortunately, Cheney will need to drop out of the race due to health reasons. He doctor strongly recommends that he not continue in the stressful position of Vice President. Bush gets to look like a loyal defender of a friend and a controversial target is removed.

I doubt that will happen though. I expect Cheney to be there in 2004. He likes power too much to let it go.
