Americans deserve Bush's profound apology
By G. Jefferson Price III
Perspective Editor
Originally published February 1, 2004

Imagine that you are the parent, or the brother or sister, or the wife, husband or child of a young man or woman killed in Iraq - one of the 138 who died in the march on Baghdad, or one of the 384 who have died there since May 1, when major combat was pronounced over.

Imagine, for that matter, that your loved one is among the almost 3,000 men and women who have been wounded in Iraq since the war began - many of whom will forever bear their horrible injuries as a reminder of where they were and why.

Americans deserve Bush's profound apology

2. That would at least be a start!
An apology would not be enough, but it would be a start. Impeachment is what we need (resignation is too easy a way out for him and his henchmen/women) and it would do the most good for the US to begin to get back the respect of the rest of the world and to begin the process of working with the world, again. This will make us safer and stronger, against the true terrorist in this world!

4. There are only 3 reasons for lying about WMD
There are only three possible explanations.

One is fraud on the part of the advisors picked by the President's father.

Another is incompetence by the advisors picked by the President's father.

And the last is error.

........................

Error is least damning since we all make mistakes...
Especially by a president that does not read newspapers or anything he does have to.

Still error by a captain of any ship is a serious matter which they are made to take respondsibility.

I am certain W as always will find someone else to take respondsibility.

5. Does America also deserve profound apologies for: irresponsible fiscal
and highly regressive tax policies; unilateral abrogation of treaties, unilateralism, dissing the UN and in effect the world community including some of our closest allies; an unrelenting assault on the environment; failure to protect, defend, and preserve the Constitution of the United States by emasculation of the Bill of Right via the Patriot Acts, so-called free-speech zones, and labeling lawful and patriotic dissent as un-American, unpatriotic, traitorous, et al; operation of government mostly in secrecy; and an assault on workers'rights. These are just for starters: add your own.
