Cheney's Strong Heart Recalls the Best of RFK- LOL & OMG!
This one is a keeper. Line for line one of the most ridiculous things you will ever see in newspaper print...or whatever the Richmond Times-Dispatch qualifies as.

By BOB RAYNER
TIMES-DISPATCH COLUMNIST
Abit of good news from Washington, for a change: Vice President Dick Cheney appears to have recovered quickly from a heart arrhythmia and is heading back to work.

Some are no doubt dismayed, not that the vice president remains vital, but that he continues to wield influence at the highest levels. This is, after all, a man who inspires deep passion and disquietude, despite his reasonable voice and grandfatherly demeanor.

The man of the left who most resembled Cheney was Robert F. Kennedy. Both men led lives as fierce partisans who waged epic battles in service of their beliefs. Both emerged as relentless champions of freedom at home and abroad. RFK and Cheney spent much of their careers in the shadows of the presidents they served. Both made mistakes -- as all formidable leaders do -- and both were frequent targets of slander from the opposition.

ROBERT KENNEDY radiated charisma and energy. Cheney, by contrast, emanates calm and wisdom. Kennedy met his adversaries with stirring rhetoric -- and sometimes ruthless cunning. Cheney relies on tightly reasoned logic -- and sometimes ruthless cunning.

History will no doubt remember little if any of the baseless "scandals" linking the vice president to the supposed misdeeds of Halliburton, the company he led in the 1990s. Nor will his top aide's court battle with a coven of media stars -- won by the media, of course -- merit more than a footnote.

For now, it's gratifying to know Cheney is on the job again, doing the hard work of fighting for what he believes is right -- and doing it with a combative brilliance and integrity that Robert Kennedy would certainly recognize and probably admire.

3. "reasonable voice and grandfatherly demeanor" "calm and wisdom"
You have to pretty much be swimming in the Kool-Aid to associate those words with Dick Cheney

7. It says a lot about Rayner's grandfather --
Probably one of those angry, hateful types whose crusty attitude dominates family gatherings.

4. Who needs coffee when you have this?
I was cracking up laughing at the breakfast table reading it back to my wife. I have no idea what this could be from other than either Raynor could "contacted" ;-) or he is trying to get an interview with the Dark Lord.

5. I hope one of RFK's children, or someone from the Kennedy family,

weighs in on this comparison. How did this reporter ever think of comparing
two such dissimilar men? RFK had great hair, looked younger than he was, was a liberal Democrat (who'd be shocked at what passes for "Democrats" these days), was in good health, athletic, fought crime (and J. Edgar Hoover), cared about civil rights and the poor, or at least said he did. Then there's Cheney. . .

6. Well, that was just silly.
I doubt that anyone but this clown would compare RFK to Cheney.

Rayner probably would like to see Reagan's image on the $100 bill.

13. Rayner doesn't exist on google
No bio nothing.

Not too surprising the entire media operation in Richmond VA rarely registers on google. Seriously it is like we are in some information void ---that would explain a lot of the voting around here.

8. There are few words that
can describe that load. What a riot. I wonder how much Cheney or Rove paid for this? It could not be that there is a real live Cheney fan out there that would see anything to compare Cheney to that was not covered in dark slime.

The Kennedy family must be retching.

9. Comparing Robert Kennedy to Dick Cheney is like saying that,
"God's precious disease is HIV/Aids."
OMFG

ROBERT KENNEDY radiated charisma and energy. Cheney, by contrast, emanates calm and wisdom. Kennedy met his adversaries with stirring rhetoric -- and sometimes ruthless cunning. Cheney relies on tightly reasoned logic -- and sometimes ruthless cunning.

As a martyr for liberalism, Kennedy is revered by the media. As a guardian of conservatism, Cheney is despised.

11. Just like two peas in a pod
Leaving DC behind, RFK would visit migrant workers, ghettos or Indian Reservations. Cheney goes on canned hunts, gets drunk and shoots people in the face.

I am appalled at Raynor's column likening Dick Cheney to Robert Kennedy. The two men MAY be similar in their party loyalty, but Cheney does not temper his with a concern for serving the people of the nation as RFK did. To call Cheney wise is really the ultimate in unwisdom. This man has lied, sneered, and intimidated his way through the world for years. He has told us the Iraq invasion would be a piece of cake, that we'd be welcomed as liberators, that the war would pay for itse

This is the worst editorial I have ever read in what continues to be the worst newspaper in a "minor league" city. History may well find Cheney a war criminal and guilty of padding the bank accounts of the military industrial complex without accountability. He should be impeached. "Honesty" Mr. Raynor? Where are the WMD and evidence of Iraq leading the 911 conspiracy? Kennedy was a Prince of Peace and the gold standard for moral & ethical behavior. Shame on you for printing this drivel !!!!

Dick Cheney and RFK ??? What bilious bull, bottom of the barrel stuff. It has got to be a tough time to be a conservative columnist, but still to get paid for this kind of crap.

I thought the comedy writers were on strike. Either someone "contacted" Raynor or he is trying to get a interview set up. BTW- I googled Raynor and apparently he doesn't exist other than in the neverneverland that is the T-D op-ed page.

18. Search for "Heart" and Replace with "Pump"
Perhaps I am not the first to say this, but it seems to me we should be aggressively encouraging substitution of "pump" for "heart" when it comes to stories about cheney's cardiovascular organ. There are too many connotations and shadings to "heart" that are well more than six degrees of remove from the loathsome being. Caring for and empathizing with others, just for starters . . .
