1. Huckabee matches up well. I predicted this...

(Again, this is not an endorsement!)

They all have so many negatives. Huckabee rises to the top by default. From my journal:
Rudy is corrupt and stupid. Fred is lazy and stupid. Mitt is ... well, vacuous. McCain, unfortunately, has that recently discovered thing in your brain that blocks reason and turns you into a Republican. I think he'd be cool otherwise. Anyway, he is past his time. Question is moot!. The rest of them are let's resort to shorthand) stupid. OK, Huckabee is stupid but he has cover. He is an ordained minister! He could be a president with Billy Graham built in! He's gets benefits of the doubt, and other leeway!

As a governor, he has no record on the war, though he has supported it, he has flexibility. (Remember Nixon's secret plans?) And he's not Washington and he can probably deliver Arkansas, even against Hillary. He's her toughest matchup I think. I could find few negatives of the kind that would swing a race.

So the point is that while he sucks, he sucks in a way that conservatives like, and some independents can tolerate. He has low negatives. He'll be their pick.

Still out on a limb. Requires the top Repubs to shoot each other in the foot, which they are capable of. Huckabee wins by attrition.

What scares me about Huckabee is that if you listen ONLY to the sound bites, he seems almost normal - sane and rational and talking common sense.

Edited to add - We need another south Florida meet-up!

3. Right on all counts...
Huckabee sounds so rational, belies his batshit craziness!

Weather is getting nice, a meetup would be good. BTW, I haven't seen RaginginMiami lately. I hope he's staying out of trouble.
