Baghdad Is Bush's Blue Dress - LAtimes-Scheer
Baghdad Is Bush's Blue Dress
Robert Scheer:

Now, can we talk of impeachment? The rueful admission by former chief U.S. weapons inspector David Kay that Saddam Hussein did not possess weapons of mass destruction or the means to create them at the time of the U.S. invasion confirms the fact that the Bush administration is complicit in arguably the greatest scandal in U.S. history. It's only because the Republicans control both houses of Congress that we hear no calls for a broad-ranging investigation of the type that led to the discovery of Monica Lewinsky's infamous blue dress.

In no previous instance of presidential malfeasance was so much at stake, both in preserving constitutional safeguards and national security. This egregious deception in leading us to war on phony intelligence overshadows those scandals based on greed, such as Teapot Dome during the Harding administration, or those aimed at political opponents, such as Watergate. And the White House continues to dig itself deeper into a hole by denying reality even as its lieutenants one by one find the courage to speak the truth.

3. Which Scandal?
There are at least half a dozen raging in the background, and the press is doing its utmost to keep them there.

The biggest scandal is the 4th Estate, which is providing cover for these fascists. I want to bring them down, too, or it's all for naught.

4. I would say there are at least a couple of blue dresses hanging
in a closet, waiting to make a grand appearance. You could have legal violations from the Plame investigation, the computer hacking done by "republican staffers" (yeah, right), the corporate profiteering from the war by the well connected, the 9-11 investigation, and then the pre-war intelligence. They are not in any particular order, but there are several blue dresses.

6. far more serious than the blue dress
that dress and it's implications never was involved in the murder of thousands of innocent people. All on the lies of George Bush. Yes, he lied and thousands died. He is truly a man who needs to be convicted of murder. He lied about the entire thing. and he did so knowingly. The cover up attempts that we see now are proof that there is some anxiety over the facts, that needs to be "covered up" so the minions take to the press again with more lies.

Bush is a shameful president.

7. Coverup
Isn't it the coverup that usually spells the downfall, not the actual crimes?

If the Dems can develope spines we may have an investigation.

Witnessing the 911 Investigation and it seems that the real failure and who is directly responsible is being swept under the proverbial rug.

8. Yes, Bush lied
I've posted this before, and I'll post it again. Paul Sperry (who voted for Bush) uses the NIE report and Bush's own quotes as irrefutable evidence that Bush lied:

WASHINGTON – A year ago, on Oct. 1, one of the most important documents in U.S. history was published and couriered over to the White House.

The 90-page, top-secret report, drafted by the National Intelligence Council at Langley, included an executive summary for President Bush known as the "key judgments." It summed up the findings of the U.S. intelligence community regarding the threat posed by Iraq, findings the president says formed the foundation for his decision to preemptively invade Iraq without provocation. The report "was good, sound intelligence," Bush has remarked.

Most of it deals with alleged weapons of mass destruction.

But page 4 of the report, called the National Intelligence Estimate, deals with terrorism, and draws conclusions that would come as a shock to most Americans, judging from recent polls on Iraq. The CIA, Defense Intelligence Agency and the other U.S. spy agencies unanimously agreed that Baghdad:

9. When the oligarchs decide that Bush is too expensive
for their bottom line, they will cut him loose
like yesterday's garbage.

(I've been reading Jack London's "The Iron Heel"
and it is prophetic to our present day world despite
being written in 1907.)
