I wondered when businesses thet rely on low wage work force would comment

Business praises Bush plan for illegal aliens
But labor, immigrant advocates wary
By Greg Schneider and Kirstin Downey, Washington Post, 1/11/2004

Business groups praised President Bush's call for temporary legal status for undocumented workers, saying it would help provide a stable work force in low-wage industries that don't attract American laborers.

Labor and immigrant advocates were more skeptical, complaining that the president's proposal favors business by forcing workers to tie their fates to employer "sponsors" who could ship them back home for complaining about job conditions.

1. Of course business would be the only ones showering praise on shrub....
let's face it, the American workers (what's left of them...) are not
happy at all. They're watching their jobs...HIGH paying jobs, being
shipped overseas and now, the opposite spectrum, i.e., low
paying jobs are being handed over to illegals that are already here
in the States.
So...about that "retraining and retooling" that us Americans have
to do...? Exactly WHAT is left for us to do? Join the imperial
army? The HomeLand security snitch squad?

2. Now big business can have cheap labor without the expense of moving their
company overseas. Of course they love it. They save even MORE money.

This is not a good time to be a middle class american.

3. kick, middle class may become obsolete....
I'm old enough to remember when blue collar workers (that phrase itself dates me) were able to get head of household jobs, with benefits.....the world changes, I realize, but there's less and less room for the middle class in this country.
