CANNIBALS ON THE RIGHT: REPUBLICANS EATING THEIR OWN

by Steve Young

With utmost appreciation to talk radio host, the glamouriscious Stephanie Miller and her mooks for creating the most apropos description from their own Republicans Eating Their Own segment, this past week Republicans not only ate their own, but before they even digested a good portion of George Bush, one of the administration’s favorite right-sided carnivores actually praised...wait for it...wait for it...Hillary Clinton.

And who started off the Grand Old Party’s Smorgasbord? Why no one other than the GOP head cook and bottle washer, President George Bush, who decided to serve up fresh Conservative anti-Immigration Bill appetizers.

Bush chastised opponents of the bill, most of them from his own party, saying that if they oppose the bill they "...don't want to do what's right for America." Garsh. Republicans deciding against the best interest of America. What’s next? Republicans undermining the troops?

Then the Republican "you eat me, than I eat you" tit-for-tat started in earnest. Former Reason speech-writer Peggy Noonan wrote in the Wall Street Journal that "This White House thinks its base is stupid." Kettles aplenty calling the pot black in that group.

Sen. Lindsey Graham went in for a hot wing of Right. "We're gonna tell the bigots to shut up." Yowza! At least some honesty was seeping out

Rush Limbaugh already tired of "carrying water" for the Pubs, said it's gotten "rough defending the President."

Democrats, step away from the table. Might get hit by a flying piece of Rove fried Bush.

snip//

Whew. With a Party like that, Republicans don’t need a primary. They need a stomach pump.

2. I think it was Newt who first accused the Republicans of eating
their own. This was after his fall from grace.

3. For those who regularly read DU, is it only the Republicans who eat their own?
There seems to be devouring of Democrats that goes on here too. Sure we may be talking about the degree, but that is hardly comforting to the ones being eaten or their supporters. Or is it cannibalism when the Republicans do it and simply informative dismemberment when done by Democrats?

4. Ya know, I just wanted to post the article, and that's what the author
came up with. Yes, Dems eat their own, and they too have deserved it.

6. Ah, if we only lived in a world where everybody gets what they deserve.
Some do, some don't. Is there a way to determine if every Democrat that was eaten by their own deserved it? Who exactly is it who gets to determine who deserves to be eaten or not?

5. Do You Know of Another Way of Enforcing Group Mores?
A kinder, gentler way of saying "What are you thinking?!"

How about corruption--is it better to ignore it and hope nobody else notices and smears it all over the front pages, or to deal with it among the family?

There is a reason to criticize--and it is best to check the facts before inserting foot in mouth.
