Vietnam veterans see parallels with war in Iraq
For the war or against it, veterans hope today's fighters are being cared for

Many Americans have strong opinions about the 4-year-old conflict in Iraq, but in most cases, those feelings do not come from experience. They read the newspaper or watch it on television, but they have had no direct contact with war.
But for those who fought in Vietnam, the daily news brings back memories, some of them good, some of them not so good.

“It's another Vietnam all over,” said Bob Frolow, of Egg Harbor Township, who was drafted into the war in Southeast Asia. “We're sending more troops over to support a civil war. I don't know what we're gaining out of it.”

Rick Van Dyk, of Stafford Township, who enlisted in the Marine Corps to serve in Vietnam, agreed.

“It seems that people didn't learn through their history, because young men and women in Iraq are going through what we did 40 years ago,” Van Dyk said. “When this war started out, I don't think anyone was planning ahead.”

1. “When this war started out, I don't think anyone was planning ahead.”
And no one was listening to voices of caution...

2. PNAC was planning ahead.
They had been planning for decades. All is going according to THEIR plan.
