Gephardt Blasts Bush's Foreign Policy

Gephardt Blasts Bush's Foreign Policy

U.S. needs aid of NATO, other nations to rebuild Iraq, presidential candidate says
By Ben Barron, CORRESPONDENT

SAN FRANCISCO -- Attacking what he called George W. Bush's foreign policy of "chest-beating unilateralism," White House hopeful Richard Gephardt lambasted the president Tuesday for failing to seek out international involvement in post-war Iraq.

"Foreign policy is not a John Wayne movie, where we catch the bad guys, hoist a few cold ones and then everything fades to black," the Missouri congressman told more than 300 members of the Bar Association of San Francisco. "It's short-sighted and wrong to simply go it alone."

...

Gephardt said the president's assertion in his State of the Union address that Iraq sought uranium in Niger -- a remark the administration since has rescinded -- contributed to a "growing credibility gap" for Bush.

1. Gee, Gep...you won't be asked to pimp in the Rose Garden if
you keep this shit up.

You didn't seem to have too much of a problem with unilateralism then, did you?

Maybe you should have thought of the aftermath when you supported the beginning...

2. You are simply mistaken.
The press conference has obscured the fact that Gephardt has done more than anyone else has to prevent and contain Bush imperialism.

Would you rather Bush was in Syria than a joint press conference?

grinning like the village idiot.

Along with Lieberman.

Now he tries to backpedal. He SUPPORTED the Iraq invasion. Sorry, it won't cut it.

I'm sure that if bush decides to attack Syria, 'ol Gep will find a way to support it. Unless, of course he now realizes itnot politically expedient to do so....

4. Bother to read the resolutions involved and I will take you seriously.

Gephardt sealed negotiations for a compromise resolution that eliminated the main Bush goal - permission to invade any and every country in the Middle East.
The Republicans and Zell Miller would never have accepted the goal in the Senate negotiations (absolute UN veto) because Bush could already use legislation from before his term (i.e. the Iraqi Liberation Act) and a claim of executive privilege to invade Iraq.

5. Gephardt is a Coward and Whore
His Rose Garden appearance was sickening.

It was that day that I realized the Democratic Party was dead. "Leaders" like Dick Gephardt had killed it.
