Past associations could haunt Giuliani
By DEVLIN BARRETT, Associated Press Writer
36 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Plenty of people — politicians included — have skeletons in their closets. In the case of presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, that closet is a walk-in.

~snip~

Skeleton No. 1 is his last police commissioner, Bernard Kerik, once nominated by President Bush to head the Homeland Security Department. Kerik's close association with Giuliani became radioactive when Kerik pleaded guilty last June to a misdemeanor of accepting a gift from a company seeking city work.

~snip~

Skeleton No. 2 is Giuliani's first police commissioner, William Bratton, now the police chief in Los Angeles. Working for Giuliani, Bratton began the police reforms in New York that led to historic crime reductions and helped turn tawdry Times Square into a Disney-certified tourist destination.

~snip~

Skeleton No. 3 is Giuliani's first wife, Regina Peruggi. They married in 1968; Giuliani had the marriage annulled in 1982, on the grounds they were second cousins once removed.

Skeleton No. 4 is Donna Hanover, his second wife. Their painfully public separation at the end of Giuliani's time as mayor seriously damaged his image, but has become overshadowed by his performance in the last months of 2001.

Each of the four, through their aides, declined to comment.

2. The more skeletons
that come out the higher his poll numbers go. Rudy the Snake is going to be tough to defeat.

4. Bratton was forced to resign and Rudy took the credit for reducing crime in NYC

5. Rudy tried to take all the credit for the drop in crime, and hated
that Bratton was awarded much of that credit. I guess that's why he left for LA.

7. Lets not forget ...

Lets not forget that Rudy was TOLD not to put the command center in the World Trade Center. He put the command center in the World Trade Center.

Rudy was told that New York needed to update it's communication equipment after the first World Trade Center bombing. On 9/11 police and firefighters were not able to properly communicate.

If standing on a pile of rubble makes you qualified to be President theres hundreds of firefighters who are more qualified then Giuliani.

I wouldn't worry about it, once the fundies get their tentacles into Giuliani there will be little left.

8. I like what Chris Rock said,
" Maybe Rudy is good like a pit bull if someone invades your home, but you gotta wonder , would he also eat the kids." Or something like that!

9. I'm no Rudy lover, don't get me wrong. But I fail to see why it's such a scandal
that he was once married to a second cousin. What's the big deal?
