Quote of the Day
"If the United States continues to be bogged down in a protracted bloody involvement in Iraq,
the final destination on this downhill track is likely to be a head-on conflict with Iran and with
much of the world of Islam at large. A plausible scenario for a military collision with Iran involves
Iraqi failure to meet the benchmarks; followed by accusations of Iranian responsibility for the failure;
then by some provocation in Iraq or a terrorist act in the U.S. blamed on Iran; culminating in a
"defensive" U.S. military action against Iran that plunges a lonely America into a spreading and
deepening quagmire eventually ranging across Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan."
--Zbigniew Brzezinski,http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/archives/001916.php
Why can't the snot-nosed little boy be happy with just stealing Iraq's oil?

1. I have to say that I really enjoy listening to Brzezinski speak
he is an incredibly eloquent speaker, despite the dire urgency of his message.

2. He's also very bright, very informed about geopolitics in the ME, and could have
been a wise advisor to this government. Oh, that's right. He's one of hundreds of specialists NOT consulted by BushCo. That would have made sense.

3. words of wisdom
which will fall on the deaf ears of Bush and his neocon lunatics. Policies that are in Bush's best interests are not policies which are in the country's best interests. As long as he and his base, the "haves and have mores" are able to continue the flow of treasure from the hands of the rest of us to their hands, he will want to escalate the war in Iraq, and as Brzezinski says, engage Iran and the rest of the Mideast in war, as well.

There is simply too much money being made from oil, and the defense industry, for him to have any interest in bringing our troops home. The war also gives him his excuse to claim unlimited presidential authority. Cheney has already given the Bush administration's response to any future attempts by Congress to end the war. "They can't stop us." Such is the arrogance of this administration, nothing will stop them from doing as they wish.
