Liz Cheney: War is not a "situation to be solved"
She's scatched out a column for the WP today. It's stuffed with straw and so much military zeal that I almost expected her to announce her enlistment. In part:

· We are at war. America faces an existential threat. This is not, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi has claimed, a "situation to be solved." It would be nice if we could wake up tomorrow and say, as Sen. Barack Obama suggested at a Jan. 11 hearing, "Enough is enough." Wishing doesn't make it so. We will have to fight these terrorists to the death somewhere, sometime. We can't negotiate with them or "solve" their jihad. If we quit in Iraq now, we must get ready for a harder, longer, more deadly struggle later.

My, my. Isn't she just a chip off the old crash cart? I've read that she's prepping to be one of Rice's senior advisers. Wouldn't you think that State might be better served by advice from someone a little more enamored of the benefits of, you know, SOLUTIONS?

"We will have to fight these terrorists to the death somewhere, sometime." We? Very generous of you, being so far away from the battlefield and all.

1. Is there a less likable family anywhere than the Cheneys?
I'd rather have the Mansons as neighbors.

2. "We" is one chicken-hawk-ballsy pronoun to use by an entire family
of warmongering assholes who have, to a person, managed to avoid any manner of military service. Why, Liz herself probably owes her very existence to her father's fervent wish to avoid military service. Wasn't Dick Cheney's fifth and final draft deferment due to his wife's pregnancy?

5. An EXISTENTIAL threat to America?
They have a vast stockpile of nuclear weapons? Some kind of advanced biological weapon? Can they think us into non-existence? :eyes:

I'm highly doubtful that people like Ms. Cheney actually believe we face a truly existential threat like we did from the Soviet nuclear arsenal. She's a cynical manipulator just like her father.

7. What is a "Liz Cheney" and why should her drivel be published in the WaPo?
I have a housebroken chihuahua that makes more sense than that logically, professionally and ethically challenged "former principal deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs" - or manichean philistine, for short.

8. No, it's a situation to be created and exploited, isn't it, Liz?
