"If everyone consumed as much energy, food and other resources as the average Canadian, humans would need more than four Earths to support their lavish lifestyle, says a report released yesterday.

Per person, Canada ranks fourth behind only the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Finland when it comes to gobbling up resources, says the Living Planet Report, released in Beijing by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

"We're living beyond our means," NDP environment critic Nathan Cullen said in an interview.

The report's introduction in plain language says the problem is "people are turning resources into waste faster than nature can turn waste back into resources."

1. No need to worry,

Canadians have about the lowest birthrate in this hemisphere, it will all be wilderness again in around two generations or until we annex it for .50 on a dollar.

2. Aside from the imminent US invasion.... I thought the article pointed

out quite rightly that if everyone in the world is to go through growth and do well (as is happening in Asia these days)..that the planet will not be able to sustain all the middle class people.
