Let's be diplomatic: Bolton not the man
... At a time in this nation's history, when the need to build bridges has never been greater, the U.S. ambassador uses a sledgehammer on jobs that require the skilled use of a hammer and nails ...

Since it was founded in 1945, the United States has sent 25 ambassadors to U.N. headquarters in New York City. Only John Bolton has been a recess appointment. The Senate has confirmed the others, usually without so much as a single negative vote. This should be a signal to President Bush that he should find another person to be the nation's top diplomat ....

That said, at a time when the U.S. desperately needs the trust and good will of the international community, it needs an ambassador skilled in diplomacy.

It's confirmed: the Senate got it right the first time.

2. That may be an accurate observation -- BUT ...

The second group is my primary interest: that group can only be invigorated by a fight against Bolton, based on his long and ugly record -- especially if we win the fight. If that means another fight looms, we enter it better organized and more seasoned for having fought Bolton. As a bonus, this creates additional opportunities for the ill-informed to take notice and become slightly better educated ...
