Southern Baptists and the Reconstructionist Blueprint
By Mainstream Baptist Wed Jun 07, 2006 at 04:04:30 PM EST

Christian Reconstructionists have a six point blueprint for making America a theocracy:

1) Make the ten commandments the law of the land;

2) Strengthen patriarchically ordered families;

3) Close the public schools and make parents totally responsible for the education of their children;

4) Require "tithes" to ecclesiastical agencies to provide welfare services;

5) Reduce the role of government to defense of the nation and the defense of property rights;

6) Close the prisons and reinstitute slavery as a form of punishment and require capital punishment for all of ancient Israel's capital offenses -- including apostacy, blasphemy, incorrigibility in children, murder, rape, Sabbath breaking, sodomy, and witchcraft.

Comparing the opinions and actions of influential Southern Baptist leaders with this six point blueprint reveals a striking measure of agreement with these goals. Below the fold is a brief comparison.

1. All they would have to do is pay...
... the right marketing company and they could get half the mouth breathers in this country to agree.

2. it can be countered by an amendment
that makes some parts of the US constitution "non-negotiable" i.e the republican form and the separation of church and state (there is a similar clause in the French Constitution). Which means that any attempts to change those parts of the constitution are automatically illegal. The right to express the wish is legal, but since the change is impossible (except by force) it's meaningless.

6. Yes, but then that amendment can just be repealed.
It's the tail chasing the dog. Instead of trying to counter their actions, we need to expose them for what they are...the worst variety of extremists.

3. I hate theocrats.
Hmm Maybe we should stone them to death before they get too much of a stranglehold in the government?(sarcasm)
Will all of these freaks wiped out maybe we could have a free country again?

The Nazis had to be wiped out to stop them in Germany,will the dominionists be the same way?

5. nah, they'll just set up local "freedom" boards that will hand down
punishments like stoning, as they see fit.

7. Most evangelicals would disavow this stuff.
Not many evangelicals would want the death penalty for breaking the Sabbath or for blasphemy. (Everyone knows the Bible verse where Jesus says the Sabbath was made for man; the message of much of the New Testament is that the Law is no longer needed.) Of course, the author is right, some of the common political beliefs of Southern Baptists and similar evangelicals are in alignment with the Dominionist agenda.

A curious thing about the Dominionists: they don't believe in the Rapture or the other popular evangelical interpretations of end-times prophecies (as popularized by Hal Lindsey or Tim LaHaye). They instead believe that the Day of the Lord (when Jesus is supposed to return with sword in hand as described in the Book of Revelation) has already happened (symbolically, when the Romans destroyed Isreal and the Jewish Temple system of worship).

9. The whole point is to bring back SLAVERY (point 6);
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 06:19 AM by Vitruvius
because these "Christian reconstructionists" are lazy galoots who expect to live by the sweat of OTHER peoples' brows.

And guess who would be the slaves.

And there would be lots of kangaroo-court "convictions" to create lots of slaves. (Remember, these "Christian reconstructionists" are the same demographic that invented lynching.)

Racism will live forever because racism is profitable to the Rethugnican sociopaths who are in power.
