Most in N.O. uncertain of future

In the months since Hurricane Katrina turned every aspect of life upside down, New Orleanians are worrying more and sleeping less, and complaining about the difficulty of getting things done, especially mail delivery and home repairs, according to a University of New Orleans survey released Monday.

-snip-

Pollsters found that slightly more than two-thirds of the New Orleanians interviewed said they are worried about what may happen in the next five years, and that nearly 40 percent are sleeping worse than they did before Katrina pummeled their city. In the week before they were questioned, at least 20 percent of the interviewees said that they had felt tired, irritable and sad; that everything was an effort; and that they had a hard time concentrating.

-snip-

"It's more difficult if you live in New Orleans," she said. "Recovery will be measured by these things getting easier."

1. Yea! I only have to deal with 4 aces of dense forest that is down and
a new roof and 2 rooms and a hallway tbat are damaged and it is depressing, overwhelming and the rotting debris is making me super allergic and I am having to take lots of meds that are not working and yet I am so much better off in the suburb of New Orleans than the majority of people in the city. My insurance will not pay for the 4 acres of downed trees, and because of that they may sit there for the rest of my life. one thousand or more trees at 500 to 1000 to remove. hmmmm

Let them rot or we will sell and let someone just clear it and turn it into an ugly parking lot which would be cheaper. We bought because we love trees...One never knows where life will take them. After this I will I had not begged my hubby to move back here. We should have stayed in the North.
