An Apology from a Bush Voter....
Doug McIntyre is not only a repug, he's a radio talk show host. But his literal bottom line reads:

"You were right, I was wrong"

http://www.kabc.com/mcintyre/listingsEntry.asp?ID=432586&PT=McIntyre+in+the+Morning

There’s nothing harder in public life than admitting you’re wrong. By the way, admitting you’re wrong can be even tougher in private life. If you don’t believe me, just ask Bill Clinton or Charlie Sheen. But when you go out on the limb in public, it’s out there where everyone can see it, or in my case, hear it.

So, I’m saying today, I was wrong to have voted for George W. Bush. In historic terms, I believe George W. Bush is the worst two-term President in the history of the country. Worse than Grant. I also believe a case can be made that he’s the worst President, period.

<snip>

But, when your gut led you from one business failure to another, when your gut told you to trade Sammy Sosa to the Cubs, and you use the same gut to send our sons and daughters to fight and die in a distraction from the real war on terror, then history will and should be unapologetic in its condemnation.

<snip>

I believe that George W. Bush has taken us down a terrible road. I don’t believe the Democrats are offering an alternative. That means we’re on our own to save this magnificent country. The United States of America is a gift to the world, but it has been badly abused and it’s rightful owners, We the People, had better step up to the plate and reclaim it before the damage becomes irreparable.

There's a lot more juicy mea culpas. It is a fun read considering the source.

5. Havent a lot of DUers been saying the same thing?
In fact when a COMEDIAN stands up to Bush, he is just about SAINTED. Why? Because ANYONE standing up to Bush is so rare, including the Dems in government.

21. And being strangled is an alternative to being shot...
Doesnt necessarily mean that it is a GOOD alternative.

The point I am trying to make though, is if even some DUers are saying that the Democratic Party has not been providing a real alternative, then is it any wonder a right winger would say that?

12. I'm thinking he's just covering his ass .....
for when this nightmare of an administration is finally taken down.

He could say he saw the light, and joined the ranks of the thinking.

I wouldn't say this article absolves him, but it may give some of his repug listeners something to think about.

4. He said that the Democrats are "equally bankrupt"
And he seems to be leaning towards asserting that it's time for a third party. No thanks, Doug.

6. "The United States of America is a gift to the world"
Sadly, at the moment, it's more like one of those gifts you pick up at the last minute from a late-night gas station on the highway. Perhaps what he meant to say was "America is the novelty nodding-dog with luminous eyes" of the world.

Not a gift that anyone would be particularly grateful to receive.

Certainly the Iraquis would like to mark theirs "return to sender."

--the U.S. has been MEDDLING in other countries' affairs for a long time now. I don't call it a "gift."

15. Yep, we have to always remember .....
Repugs are collaborators with this regime. They are responsible for the damage done to this country.

Admitting they were wrong is only the first step. They have to make restitution. They will not get off the hook on this one.

17. They aren't admitting anything.
Saying, "I was wrong to vote for Bush" is not even close to admitting complicity in shredding the Constitution.

23. Apologize??? Not enough..The Man enabled is killing our Nation, our People
Our Planet, never mind our Respect and Credibility. Apologies must be backed up with action to solve the Wrong.

McIntyre should not sit in refleection but work passionately to undo the Harm by joining the Effort.
