I feel for you. I really do. I feel for anyone suffering from severe mental illness.

Now, now. Don't get testy. I don't mean it as snark. I mean it as fact. You truly are suffering from a mental illness -- post-traumatic stress disorder. Yes, the same disorder our soldiers get in the field. Somehow you got it on 9/11.

I never realized how terrified that day made you, 33%. Yes, it was a horrible, scary day. I remember. But obviously much more frightening for you than for me. It scared you so much, your mind simply gave up rationality. We 67%ers know -- we've listened to you. We've listened to you in one breath say that Saddam was a butcher and that this is a war to save innocent lives, and then just a few seconds later say Islam is inherently violent and all Muslims need to be targeted, surveilled, and destroyed. We've listened with pity as you described in ever more complete detail the architecture of your delusion, the monsters you fear will kill you. You tell us we have to fight them over there, so we don't have to fight them over here, but then you tell us we must surrender all our rights because we are surrounded by your demons.

These are not the workings of a rational mind. Can you see that?

33%, you are sick. You need help.

You need treatment. A good liberal psychologist could help you work through your PTSD. Failing that, a good liberal friend. If you can't find treatment on your own, let us know. Just ask 3 people for help -- we'll be two of them.

1. I love this.

And while it is probably written in jest, there is a whole LOT of truth in it.

I know, because I had my own version of PTSD right after 9/11 and after months of hissing and spitting at the TV when GWB appeared, I actually kind of liked him for a while.

I know, I know. Crazy. It didn't take long for me to get my brain back, however. And as time passes, you can see that so many others are joining me.

6. This letter speaks rightly to probably 18%.

But the fifteen percent remaining - the religious bigots and end-timers, they need to hear another message. These people believe that the war is their god's plan... to punish the evildoers and bring them to justice (gee, where have I heard that before?) - divine justice. I know, because I'm related to some of these people. Muslims must repent or die. Bush is Christ's chosen agent etc. etc.

Are these people crazy? At what point do we call a person's religous belief more than just a delusion, but insanity?

7. They Aren't Sick or Brainwashed Anymore, They're Bigots

They were brainwashed early on, kind of like post traumatic stress syndrome with a heaping helping of Uncle Sam's patriotic propaganda thrown in. But now, nobody is forcing them to ignore 5 solid years worth of news and data.

For a person to have still not learned a thing, they would purposely have to make the choice not to learn. That's not a sickness or brainwashing, that's stupid and hateful. These stupid and hateful people want others tortured, murdered and continuously maimed because that's how much they loathe themselves. Again, that's not a sickness or the result of brainwashing, that's low self-esteem and ignorance.

Propaganda is a huge force in the media now but even it is getting weak, the lies are blatent and unbelievable which greatly weaken whatever the message of the propaganda is. For someone to still believe the total crap that flows from the mouth's of media whores takes a true desire to tune out all learning and to just focus on one's own bigotries.

So the repukes are now exposed for what most were to begin with, hateful bigots and whores.

There IS a lot of truth in that article, as well as humor. Obviously, some people were so scared after 9/11 that they would elect nearly anyone they thought would protect them.

It may be controversial, but I think that Bush has used this fear as a tool to manipulate the public. He has used 9/11 to justify acts of legislation and fiat that would have never seen the light of day before 9/11 - the Patriot Act, the continuing erosion of our civil liberties, torture, etc. And up to now, he's gotten away with it.

Then Americans witnessed the mishandling of Katrina and many other prime examples of Bush's incompetence. And FINALLY, after almost six years, people are starting to get it.

You bring up a good point in this post: why haven't the remaining 33% "gotten it" yet? Is Bush going to have to declare martial law and void the Constitution before they see what's going on?
