You don't need to be conspiracy buff to like a paper trail

http://www.sptimes.com/2006/03/09/Columns/You_don_t_need_to_be_.shtml
----snip----

"Since the 2004 election, an energetic and mostly Democratic group of folks has alleged (1) the election was rigged and (2) we need better safeguards for our electronic voting machines.
As long as we are putting questions (1) and (2) together, we are going nowhere.
Mainstream America is not going to buy the conspiracy theory unless President Bush gets caught on tape saying, "Me and Diebold stole the election, heh, heh.""

----snip----

"...imagine her winning the White House in 2008...Then you would see our Republican brothers and sisters crying out for a paper trail!"

1. We *do* need to cite all of the instances of voter suppression and
all of the machine 'malfunctions' we can document, but leave the issue of 'whether Kerry won in 2004' behind...

2. if gore had been ahead by a few votes...
do you think they would have all been telling us how the votes were counted once, twice, three times?

do you think Katherine Harris would have denied recounts and certified the vote?

do you think the Supreme Court would have stopped the counting and effectively declare Gore the winner to protect 'his equal rights'.

no, of course not.
