Most Valuable Progressives of 2005
The year is ending on a much better note than it began -- thanks to the courage and conviction of elected officials, activists and organizations.

It is hard to complain about a year that began with George Bush bragging about spending the "political capital" he felt he had earned with his dubious reelection and ended with the president drowning in the Nixonian depths of public disapproval. But the circumstance didn't just get better. A handful of elected officials, activist groups and courageous citizens bent the arc of history toward justice. Here are this one columnist's picks for the Most Valuable Progressives of 2005 [lik:The year is ending on a much better note than it began -- thanks to the courage and conviction of elected officials, activists and organizations. http://www.alternet.org/story/30176/

1. I would add Bill Moyers to that list and Jon Stewart
Moyers for exposing and putting in his place the guy who was trying to turn PBS into a conservative outlet who has since been fired and Stewart for continuously putting conservative idiots in their place, particularly Bill O'Reilly, and for taking down Crossfire.

Best Jon Stewart Bill O'Reilly exchange from when O'Reilly appeared on his show:

O'Reilly (to Stewart)- "You add insult to injury".

Stewart - "That is true, but you add injury".

Honorable Mention to Steven Cobert whose Cobert Report is coming on strong.

2. and i would add Rachel Maddow and Amy Goodman for
doing the daily grind of rebuilding intelligence in the american media.
Without knowledge of what is going on and cogent analysis, we are hardly capable of being a democracy! This is difficult daily work and i have the huge amouts of respect for the people that are getting this done. Independent media is vital for our survival
