GOP needs an `Extreme Ethics Makeover," Not Ethics Class
by Rep Louise Slaughter
Thu Dec 08, 2005 at 01:59:29 PM PDT

First, please recommend this diary if you think others should see this information concerning the Republican culture of corruption. The Office of Speaker is suggesting "new ethics training for lawmakers," so that members of both parties can better "understand the nuances of House rules." Well, there is nothing `nuanced' about money laundering, bribery, corruption and the total collapse of ethical conduct in the House. The Speaker should know that we need a working Ethics Committee, radical ethics reform and accountability in this Congress. These Republicans don't need an ethics class; they need an Extreme Ethics Makeover...Congressional Edition.

Plus, instead of conducting investigations into the piles of shocking ethics scandals we have before us, Mr. Hastert is planning to postpone the start of Congress next year while Tom DeLay tries to wiggle his way out of trouble. So, the people's business will again be neglected.

Rep Louise Slaughter's diary :: ::
The fact that Republicans place Tom DeLay's political hide ahead of the people's interest is yet another indication that this leadership is out of touch with American values. Here is the background/fact check on the GOP culture of corruption, which I distributed today to the media and my colleagues around the Hill. Please help us get this information out, and let me know what you think. Thank you!
