This is quite an interesting perspective, but I have heard another, much more damaging to Blair: the Sunday Times published this story first and was followed up by the Mirror, it may have taken a couple of days for this to sink in in Washington, and, when it did Tony received his orders and we have had the first censorship of the UK press under the Official Secrets Act.
