Houston Chronicle: Bush should demand Rove's resignation
Oct. 28, 2005
Editorial
JUSTICE BY THE BOOK
Plame probe special counsel's exemplary conduct has restored credibility to a position tainted in recent years by partisan politics

...It is clear from the recitation of the evidence supporting the indictments that Libby performed an unethical breach of national trust in repeatedly discussing Plame's CIA role with reporters. President George Bush's advisor Karl Rove has also been identified by reporters as a source for information about Plame but has not been indicted.

Although not a crime, both Libby and Rove falsely gave their personal assurance to President Bush and the public that they had nothing to do with the affair. It is now clear that the two had everything to do with the blowing of Plame's cover.

And what does it say about the character of officials who would attempt to secretly punish an opponent's spouse rather than openly defending their policy, in this case their stated reasons for going to war in Iraq?

No matter how their lawyers spin it, this is unacceptable behavior for high officials entrusted with national security secrets. If President Bush is serious about his often professed desire to get to the bottom of the Plame leak, he should demand the resignations of those who had any role in leaking her identity, regardless of whether they are indicted or convicted.

2. It's the Fitz effect.
I think a lot a disillusioned Americans watched the news conference today and saw something in him and remembered a time when life was more honest and hopeful.

4. Yep, W the president of gloom, doom, and fear
That's his total package. Now to the rich he does say, excess profits, lower taxes, and let those "others" fight in Iraq. You know, those who want an education but who didn't have elitists parents so they will risk their lives for a chance at education. You know, that "lower class" that we are offering a step up if they just agree to be cannon fodder.

3. Yeah, and dream another dream
Bush is an elitist who backs those who profits him. Bush could care less about internal matters as long as he isn't hurt financially. W is a global corporatist and could care less about American citizens.

6. one great line
"And what does it say about the character of officials who would attempt to secretly punish an opponent's spouse rather than openly defending their policy, in this case their stated reasons for going to war in Iraq?"

This is what you say to stupid people who say Wilson was lying, or whatever they come up with next.

If Wilson was lying, have major administration officals go on TV and prove he's lying, don't out his wife to punish him.

If he truly was lying, the best punishment would be to prove he was lying no?

7. Not in Republican-think.......
in Republican-think it's ALWAYS attack the other side first, then talk about your issues, if indeed they have any to talk about. They're the ones who originated and perfected the "politics of personal destruction" and they're not about to change tactics until they don't work anymore. That time may be rapidly approaching.

Welcome to DU by the way! :hi: You picked a great time to jump in and vent your spleen. Hope you enjoy yourself here!

8. yes
The repug positions are so weak, they are indefensible. After all they still hold to many things that have been shown to be inaccurate.
