Matier & Ross: Clint was anti-recall
This is just a little piece in their SF Chronicle Column:

"FINAL CUT: Arnold had his Hollywood star power -- so why didn't Gov. Gray Davis try to match it?

Well, a birdie tells us actor Clint Eastwood (a member of the state Park and Recreation Commission) actually had agreed to cut an anti-recall spot for the guv."

Why didn't he? Well, I don't want to give the whole thing away. Scroll down to the bottom...

1. I thought this bit was more interesting...
GAMING THE GAMERS: Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger has been talking about tapping into the $5 billion a year that the state's Indian tribes bring in with their casinos. But those in the know say this is much more easily said than done.

Here's why:

The current compacts with the tribes are for 20 years -- so both sides must agree to any changes.

Now, the governor could cut a deal where he OKs more slot machines in return for a cut of the future take -- but chances are slim the new money would come close to the billions that will be needed to offset even a rollback in the state's highly unpopular car tax.

snip

On the other hand, as one adviser to Schwarzenegger told us, he could always threaten to break the Indians' multibillion-dollar monopoly by going to the voters with a proposal to legalize Vegas-style casinos in the state.

"You do that and the tribes might find it in their best interest to start voluntarily helping the state," the adviser said.
