There's no reason for feds to tinker with Posse Comitatus
Ruben Navarrette Jr.

<snip> One thing that seems to be in fine working order (and thus in grave danger of fixing) is the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which prohibits federal troops from engaging in domestic law-enforcement operations. Congress passed the law after the Civil War to prevent federal troops from supervising elections and enforcing laws in Southern states that were previously part of the Confederacy.
<snip>

Posse Comitatus is fine just as is. It doesn't need fixing. It needs to be left alone.

3. It's one of those things that they will screw with and regret later.
Like giving bush the authority to invade Iraq without asking anybody.

4. yeah, and there's no reason to tinker with the Endangered Species Act . .
either . . . but they're doing it anyhow . . .

and from their perspective there's plenty of reasons . . . that those reasons are manufactured and/or just plain wrong fazes them not one iota . . .
