Where's the beef?
The president needed to bind this nation's resolve for success in Iraq, but instead offered platitudes and fear-mongering

Pardon us for feeling we've heard this all before. President George W. Bush ur gently needed to use the bully pulpit of his office to do what presidents can do best: Sweep aside the namby-pamby reassurances that all is well in Iraq, and spell out what it will take - and how long it may take - before U.S. troops can leave.

Instead, the president used his prime-time speech Tuesday night for oft-repeated bromides about "the advance of freedom" and the "lessons of September the 11th." For the umpteenth time, he raised the flags of post-9/11 outrage and patriotism.
