Kansas preacher says he's coming to Idaho

BOISE, Idaho -- A Kansas preacher and gay rights foe whose congregation is protesting military funerals around the country said he's coming to Idaho tomorrow to picket the memorial for an Idaho National Guard soldier killed in Iraq.

A flier on the Web site of Pastor Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church claims God killed Cpl. Carrie French with an improvised explosive device in retaliation against the United States for a bombing at Phelps' church six years ago.

"What Phelps is doing is a reprehensible thing, to take a funeral and turn it into a photo op for his hate cause," Fischer said.

In 2003, Phelps demanded that he be allowed to erect an anti-gay monument in a Boise public park. To avoid a lawsuit from his group, city officials voted in 2004 that a Ten Commandments monument be moved out of the park.

The war that killed them? The fact that they died? I don't understand this, other than, of course, the fact that Phelps is certifiably insane.

I mean, if 'God' 'wanted' to kill someone in retaliation for Phelp's church bombing (which he probably did himself to garner sympathy), why did he have to use Iraq and kill 100,000 other people in the process? Is his 'aim' that bad?

he's so far right most extremists don't even like him. He's saying these military murders are revenge by God for someone bombing his church six years age. He was going to put an anti-gay monument in Julia Davis Park because we had a 10 commandment's monument in the park for decades. It was some horrible hate speech against that poor boy in Wyoming, who was tied to the fence and beaten to death. We moved the monument. And the religious-right wing nut jobs are still protesting the removal. Like it's the Lefts fault with a separation of church and state statement. sheesh, always our godless fault.
