Elder Bush would like son Jeb to run for president

Tue May 31, 8:08 PM ET

George Bush, the president's father, would like to see another Bush in the White House someday, saying on Tuesday that he would want his son Jeb to run for president when the timing is right.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush has repeatedly said he does not plan to run for president in 2008, trying to dampen speculation that another Bush could be on the next Republican ticket for the White House.

In an interview on CNN's "Larry King Live," former President Bush said he would want Jeb to run for president "someday," but now was not the time.

"The timing's wrong. The main thing is, he doesn't want to do it. Nobody believes that," Bush said.

1. HA....
your older and much more stupid brother sealed your fate as an also ran, Jebbie. He's done so much to harm this country that the name "bush" will forever be synonymous with failure, ignorance and crime. You don't stand a ghost of a chance Jebbie, older brother Dumbya screwed you again. It must be hell to have such a classless turd as an older brother.

4. I Heard About That - Ludicrous!
Laura doesn't have a shot in the primaries against McCain or even DeLay or Frist for that matter.

On the other hand, Jeb definitely is running. There's not a doubt of that in my mind. I've ruminated on how KKKarl's role will affect that outcome of the primaries and now believe that McCain will be allowed to win so that he can go up against Clinton or Kerry and Jeb will accept the #2 slot.

she'll be easy to beat. Didn't they try this with Elizableth Dole?

10. Yes The Did But...
Elizabeth had LOTS of political experience before she ran, having been a cabinet secretary, head of the Red Cross, etc.

You're right that Laura would be easy to beat – too easy in my book.

7. Seriously.
How long before they trot out Barbara and Laura to say that we should really just cancel the elections.

8. I'm waiting for them to propose rescinding the 22nd amendment
The one that starts with:
"Section. 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

9. I think they might lack the "political capital" :-)
I was worried somebody was going to propose it in 2002, when his cult of personality was young and virile. They might have gotten away with it :scared:

11. Wait until 2008
We'll have another 9/11 type event and Dubya will insist we need to keep him in office.
