GOP's sudden loss of humor is laughable

SNIP
It's official. Conservatives and liberals have officially traded funny bones. These days, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean is cracking up audiences across the country with a mean-spirited take on Rush Limbaugh's battle with addiction to painkillers.

When "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert angled for a sign of repentance from "Dr. Dean" for making fun of the chemically dependent demagogue, the former presidential candidate stood his ground with a refreshing show of wit: "It is galling to be lectured to about moral values by folks who have their own problems."

In the pre-Jon Stewart era, such open defiance of Russert -- the Savonarola of American journalism -- would've been nigh unthinkable. But Dean not only defended his imitation of Limbaugh, he justified it by citing the political context for the joke. That's far more than what his tormentors in the mainstream media did when they replayed his infamous "rebel yell" for weeks beyond its natural expiration date.

"Rush Limbaugh has made a career of belittling other people and making jokes about President Clinton, about Mrs. Clinton and others," Dean told Russert, coming suspiciously close to speaking truth to power. The only way to short-circuit the humorless sanctimony of the Washington press corps is to refuse to be cowed by it.

I love Tony Norman. He really hands the Repubs their asses in this one!

1. I like the article, but I disagree with his characterization of
Mr. Potato Head as the Savonarola of American journalism -- he is not a religious or moral prophet, he is a hubris-laden, lardheaded, greedy, duplicitous piece of excrement who will do anything to serve his corporate masters, like the good whore that he is. And that is putting it nicely!

2. Republicans Don't Like To Receive What They Have Been Dishing Out ...
...for years. Now that the 'nuclear option' has been stopped for the moment, they will be plotting some kind of retaliation scheme soon.

7. Humor is good.
No one likes a sanctimonious prig.

The name of the game is pig sticking. You know your barb his the pig when he squeals. If you're really good the pig will make a damn fool of himself in public as he tries to defend the indefensible. Witness Rush, Oxycontin Limbaugh squaling for Howard Dean to release his medical records--after Rush has fought a long court battle to have his own medical records released. Howard Dean is clearly a master of the game.

I say get the Democrats in Congress stand up lessons from liberal minded comedians and let the barbs fly.

Who'd you rather sit next to on a coast to coast airline trip. John Stewart or Bill Frist?

16. Dean was great on Face the Nation. . .
It was refreshing to see a fighting Democrat that doesn't back down and calls the GOP out. Tim Russert looked surprised at the times when Dean slammed the Republicans and then refused to apologize for daring to criticize Fearless Leader and his Cronies.

It's about time we start taking the fight to Republicans.:kick:
