Should the Army be allowed to block Air America on the Internet?
I work for the Army and can no longer listen to Air America on the Internet at work. Since I live in a fucked up red state where Clear Channel rules the airwaves, I cannot listen to my favorite Randi Rhodes on the radio. So, I listened to her on the Internet at work. But, the Army bastards blocked the Air America web site and the proxy site that I used. I think it sucks, but what do you think? Should the Army be allowed to block Air America on the Internet?

2. Considering they air Rush on AFR...
This is definitely a protestable action in my view. They shouldn't be allowed only to present one side of an issue. Not with taxpayer dollars.

3. It depends
do they block all radio stations? I know that due to the immense amount of bandwidth that they require most schools have an outright ban on all radio downloading. If they block Air America as part of that, then they are within their rights.

If, on the other hand, they block Air America but not anything else, then given that the Army is a branch of the government, you might have a case.

4. Are they blocking all radio, or just AA?
If you can get conservative radio, but not liberal, that is BAD. If they are blocking all radio, that is another thing altogether.

You may just have to bite the bullet and get one of those pay radios. That seems to be where they are going with this shit....

5. They can't block all 55 stations.

Try these two. They both have listen live links.

6. Absolutely NOT!
If they can listen to Rush, the BBC broadcasts, etc, why would they restrict AAR? The idea sounds illegal to me! First ammendment rights. Castro would do this kind of stuff, but not the USA!!!!

11. Yes, I noticed that when I was in Japan
Edited on Sat May-14-05 11:31 AM by Lydia Leftcoast
Can't the non-knuckle-dragging military personnel petition to have Malloy or some other equally spirited left-wing talker on as well?

Of course, broadcasting Limbaugh serves the military's purpose well, since his program pushes hatred of liberals and foreigners.
