Disregard political allegiances and vote for parties that opposed war
This election will show whether, as a people, we are prepared to sacrifice our moral compass on the altar of a feelgood credit economy. Lovers of peace from across the spectrum have a duty to the people of Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc, to set aside subsidiary loyalities and unite behind the Liberal Democrats in Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, and Edinburgh South, for example, and behind the SNP in Dumfries and Galloway and in Ochil and South Perthshire.

As for Labour’s bankrupt mantra that a vote for anyone else will let the Tories into power, this could only ever really concern voters in Labour seats with majorities of around 20, not constituencies such as the above.

Since Labour goes into this election with a notional 400 seats out of 646, the very "worst" that even Edinburgh South (103rd on Labour’s at-risk list) could deliver is Labour 26, not 24, seats short of an overall majority.

An informal Scottish tactical voting alliance can help return to Westminster the benefits of a balanced parliament and proportional representation that Westminster conferred on Scotland in 1997.
