In Defense of Marla Ruzicka
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 02:48 AM by not systems
This provides a nice guided look into the neocon mind.

Debbie Schlussel is glad she died – and so is David Horowitz

by Justin Raimondo

People all across the political spectrum, encompassing all possible views on the Iraq war, stopped for a moment of rueful silence when the news broke that Marla Ruzicka was killed by a suicide bomber the other day. Well, almost everyone, that is, except for one Debbie Schlussel, a right-wing columnist who tries to market herself as a kind of third-rate Ann Coulter (complete with a bad dye job and a come-hither sulk). She is glad that Marla is dead. She said so in her column. So is David Horowitz, the neoconservative demagogue who makes $180,000 a year (and more) cashing-in on his Communist-Marxist past (he's sorry, oh-sooooooo-sorry!). He published Schlussel's hate-filled screed on his smear site. Yes, I know it's hard to believe, but the neocon crazies have reached a new low. Here's a taste of Schlussel's poisonous brew:

"When The New York Times, Nightline, and CNN nominate a young blonde for sainthood ahead of the Pope, it's time for a reality check. Especially when that blonde, Marla Ruzicka's sole purpose is to legitimize our enemies, cause problems for U.S. troops already in harm's way, and morally equate dead terrorists with victims of 9/11."

...

What is truly disgusting about Schlussel's bile, however, is the ironic quote marks around the words "innocent civilians." As Schlussel puts it:

"Ruzicka had the gall to insist that these Afghani and Iraqi dead, terrorists or not, get recognition and sympathy equal to victims of the 9/11 attacks." .

A normal person might ask: Why shouldn't they get our sympathy if they aren't "terrorists"? Because, in Debbie's World, there are no innocent civilians in the Middle East – except in Israel (of course!). All those damned Ay-rabs are guilty, in her view, and deserve death, or at least a good maiming.

1. You know what? I think we should just kill everyone!!
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 02:42 AM by DrCorday
We disagree with! Hey guys, I got an excellent plan! I disagree with the Iranian theocracy, so I think we should crash a couple planes into their capitol building. "God" willing, we could maybe kill thousands of innocent civilians! But we all know, they deserve it!!

As for having the gall, there no way that their non-terrorists are as good as our non-terrorists! Theirs live next door to these radical assholes that don't want to do anything more than kill people! Why don't they deserve to die.

(--end sarcasm--)

I feel like we're adults caught between two selfish five year-olds, but that would be trivializing the issue. It's annoying and tragic because I feel like we're (all the moderate "faithless" people everywhere) just suffering through their crusading nightmare.

Regardless, it seems like so many people these days are just plain evil. Or maybe just totally wrong. How is it that they get away with it?

(And I'm talking to both of you... kids.)

2. I just read some of the comments on the lucianne thread...
Simply put, it was incredibly vile. The degree of hatred and lack of empathy from the extreme right is staggering. It reminds me of how vigilant we need to be to stop extremism in this country.

I need to take a shower after reading these comments. Yeech.

3. What say you we all take up on Justin Raimondo's advice at the end?

It's time to draw the line against this increasingly assertive evil –by making an example out of Schlussel. Her piece goes way over the line, and those who posted it and approved it have to take a share of the responsibility. It's time to hold these people accountable for their ugliness, and force them to clean up their act – or else. Schlussel has a column at "Conservative Town Hall," at WorldNet Daily, and she writes frequently for the New York Post. Write to these folks, send them a copy of Schlussel's "dance of death" column, and politely inquire as to whether this is the sort of columnist they think ought to be gracing their pages. Write to David Horowitz and demand an apology. That fat old gasbag, always so full of self-righteousness, ought to get down on his knees and beg forgiveness from Marla's staunchly Republican parents, who are prostrate with grief.

Enough is enough. We're long overdue for a little spring cleaning: let's freshen the air and take this bitch down.

The above link will direct you to the places Mr. Raimondo suggets we contact and give them a little piece of our minds.

4. Why did I read that right before going to bed...
That is the most sickening and maddening article I've read in a long time. The comments on lucianne.com are beyond vile. As usual the true Republicans have shown their colors. It's why I'm a Democrat.

I've bookmarked it and I'm going to email it to all my friends tomorrow. Thanks for posting the article.
