Republican Backing for Bolton Wavering
<snip> A spokeswoman for Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska said the senator felt the committee "did the right thing delaying the vote on Bolton in light of the recent information presented to the committee." <snip>

Republican Sens. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska also said they wanted more information on the accusations before they made up their minds. <snip>

The New York Times reported <Colin Powell> expressed reservations about Bolton to Chafee and Hagel. <snip>

1. I'd like to think the nomination
was now dead but with this administration who knows just what they will threaten them with.

3. The * gang doesn't want
to have a public defeat like this. And any "win" by our team makes future wins (by our team) seem more possible. (Generally you want to go from win to win -- thereby taking on an aura of invincibility -- and inevitability.)

So yeah, they are going to be throwing everything but the kitchen sink. But how much of this will be visible (or ever spoken of -- except to lie about) is entirely another matter.
