1. Interesting
In this case, the daughter is following the Mother's wishes in aggressively keeping her alive, in exactly the same way that Michael Schiavo was following his wife's wishes. The courts are holding consistantly.

As painful as it is for the Mother, the coursts are rightfully upholding her wishes and they are correct.

2. My daughter is a nurse in Boston
and familiar with this case. It is just sad. The woman, the mother, is in horrible condition, but the daughter believes she has quality of life. The mother did want everything humanly possible done for her.

The problem is that the daugther is keeping her mother alive more for her very own selfishness rather than what is best for her mother. But, in the end, it is the daughter's decision and I believe it should be respected, however much I vehemently disagree.

3. In the Yahoo story Mrs. Howe's condition is described
and I was struck by the statement that 'bones were broken in the process of moving her' and how that may relate to Terri Schiavo. Isn't it possible the fractures occurred during her stay in the ER and subsequently in various hospitals which will be laid at the feet of Michael Schiavo?

Doe anyone know how usual it if for patients in PVS to suffer fractures?

5. How can any hospital override her daughter who is acting on her
mother's wishes? Where are the "protect life" people now? Someone should not have treatment denied based on money! Ever! Period.

6. The hospital in Texas overrode the wishes of the mother
in the case of Sun Hudson, thanks to the legislation signed by Governor Boosh.

7. Of course. Any corporation's desires trumps the individual's.
The world according to Bushy.

8. When Medicaid pays...
as it presumably does for all but the wealthiest when a protracted illness is involved, then society is going to have to decide how much to raise taxes if life is to be preserved to the extreme.

My opinion is not, as I am a pragmatist. Baby boomers retirement is chickenfeed compared to life support and nursing homes for patients with flat EEGs.
