WTF is up with this Village Voice editorial?

This very weird editorial by Hentoff has so many facts wrong I lost count. Anyone have any idea what the editors of Village Voice were thinking?

the RW has been injecting into the public consciousness for the past 25 years has finally exceeded some critical threshold and bloomed into full-scale chaotic behavior. Where once the American state ruled through hegemony and conformity in the mass media, it now embraces chaos and the goal is to prevent a dominant opinion from ever forming.

The Crazy Years are upon us.
