Premature ejectulation (first stage) (pundits on Gore 2008)
By Grace Nearing of Scriptoids

Good God these people never take a break. They just never stop. It's only the first week in March 2005; George W. Bush was sworn in for his second term a mere 6 weeks ago. But here's Chris Matthews braying about his scoop on the 2008 election--

A HARDBALL exclusive that will shake up the 2008 presidential race. I'm reporting tonight, as I have had already, Al Gore is not running for president.

As we all well know, the time from now until the 2008 presidential race begins in earnest spans several political eternities (running consecutively). All this braying is totally meaningless.

Nevertheless, if you suspect that Social Security fatigue has set in among your viewers and that the friendly-fire killing of the chief of the Italian foreign intelligence service just isn't sexy enough ratings-wise, then there's only one thing to do.

Okay. But there's no excuse for doing it so excruciatingly badly.

1. I would prefer to talk about the 2006 race... which is already well
under way in my mind. It started about NOv 15 to me.

2. 2006 is boring boring boring
We'd much rather gossip mindlessly about the presidential race. And that's not just the mainstream media. Go count the presidential race preference threads and of course I'm not even mentioning 2004 but if you want to start a flame fest here all you need to do is set up a post with the heading "Dean was destroyed by the MSM", "Clark would have beaten Bush" or "Dennis was the only true Democrat"

Everyone loves the big game.

3. Republican friend saw/heard Gore yesterday and said he's great!
He was so impressed with Al Gore and what he had to say. He was totally impressed with Al's knowledge and loved his speech.

It was an all day conference on the environment at UT Knoxville. Howard Baker (who co-wrote the original environmental protection legislation) started the day and Al Gore closed it.

I intended to go but at the last minute some urgent things came up at work and I couldn't go.

Anyway, my friend has been trying to get the Republicans to understand that they need to change their actual position on environmental issues but he's beginning to realize that their actions are no accident or oversight. They'reintentional.

I think he'll be faced with "Moment of Decision" here one of these days (like I was) about continuing to support the Republicans. I stopped actively supporting them over environmental issues during Reagan's first 2 years in office. Then, after they started undoing Civil Rights protections and separation of Church and state, I joined the Democrats. That may be about tohappen with him.
