Why not Extraordinary Transparency?

Why not Extraordinary Transparency?

Did you watch 60 Minutes last night? The primary news segment was about the CIA's Extraordinary Rendition program ... The U.S. government has repeatedly denied doing this; President Bush has spoken against torturing suspects for information. But with so much testimony and collaborating paperwork, why won't the government fess up? Why can't they say that we have been doing this and we are going to stop? What happened to Transparency? ... Transparency leads to trust. And trust becomes respect and admiration. Many businesses have learned this. In a company where transparency is the norm, the lowliest intern feels comfortable, more secure that they know whom exactly they are working for and what they are working for. Are you transparent? Is your company? Do you think that is the proper way to operate?

1. Exactly right
We need a transparent government. Everyone is complaining about the rampant conspiracy theories that are around. They are a direct result of the secrecy.

2. Personally I think EVERY thing the government does should be available to
EVERY American. From Bush's lies to every black budget in existence.

I should be able to track every single dollar of my tax money.

I know there are good arguments against COMPLETE transparency. I just don't feel they are good enough to justify keeping information from the people.

3. ChoicePoint and ilk has apparently made the American
citizen transparent to their corporate and government cronies.

What's good for them apparently isn't good for us.

4. Let there be transparency in the Markets. That is the assumption
that they are based up: "given perfect information". I believe there are economists somewhere doing great work on how lack of transparency hurts the markets and how they function. Like if your stock broker is Warren Buffet and the one I get is just over the phone for $6 because that is all I can afford. Then the markets don't function properly.

Eat that Repukes!!
