(Oh BooHoo) Bush Won't Call PM.
Edited on Wed Mar-02-05 02:09 PM by Hoping4Change
Americans fluctuate between anger, denial on missile rift with Canada.

"Senior Canadian officials said yesterday that George W. Bush had yet to return a telephone call Paul Martin made to him last week. The Prime Minister had hoped to explain Canada's reasons for saying no."

...

Mr. McClellan did not scotch reports that Mr. Bush expressed displeasure at the decision by declining to return Mr. Martin's call. "I'll have to check on that, I don't know if that's the case," he said.

(Aw shucks bushieboy just wants woom to play with his toys and our big bad PM saidno. We canucks are wery wery bad.) :spank: :spank:

...

"U.S. officials, meanwhile, said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's decision to postpone a visit to Ottawa was a direct response to the Liberal decision."

(Aw Condi ain't gonna come over to our house to play. Oh no Dr Bill we made Condi mad.)

...

"Still, there was pique among American officials over Mr. Martin's statement in the House of Commons that Canada, despite saying no to missile defence, will still expect the U.S. to consult Ottawa about any incoming missiles over Canadian territory."

(Sheesh. What kind of unmitigated gall is that? Its doesn't look like little ol canucks are very nice after all cause we be so mean to little ol bushbieboy)

Oh boohoo.

Georgie Porgie, pudding and pie,
Kissed the girls and made them cry;
When the boys came out to play,
Georgie Porgie ran away.

1. Actually, Bush is doing it to be nice.
Think about it. Every day Paul Martin doesn't have to talk to George W. Bush is the happiest day of his life. It's kind of like the guy from the convenience store in Fight Club.

You may have a point One commentator pointed out that Bush
was upset because Martin dithered so much. The commentator remarked how Bush supposedly likes straight-shooters however when Martin gave him a straight "no" bush is now in a teezy. Yeah I think you're right, not having to talk bush probably makes Martin day a whole lot better.

4. Yeah, I'm sure Paul Martin and Canadians in general sleep a little easier.
And even so, how many times do you have to turn down the opportunity to eat enchiladas and ride on horseback before the twit gets the message that you aren't interested?

6. Well what is unbelievable is that I think the WH really blew this bigtime.
Edited on Wed Mar-02-05 02:17 PM by Hoping4Change
Initially the reports said that this was no big deal to the WH. I had kind assumed as much. Then today when I saw this front page headline I realized that we actually got under their skin. The big boys are pissed off. Woo hoo.

I think it would have been wiser for the WH to play this as no big deal and downplay Canada's significance. I think the WH is pissed off because Canada's response might give other country's "bad" ideas.

8. I really don't think our leaders want to have much to do with Bush at all.
Martin was nice and tried to get along with Bush. All he got was coertion. Why bother? China is building our gas pipelines going West instead of South. Competition sets us free from the USA. And billy-Goat Bush just sends us running in the other direction (like he does the rest of the world).

9. As a Canuck
I can tell you firmly that the majority of Canadians are against militarizing space. We are against the missile defense system. And Paul Martin really only reflected our wishes.....and for that, if I could - I would shake his hand and say thank you.

I am sick and tired of our Canadian politicians of bending over backwards towards America. (Sorry and nothing personal meant) The conservatives(our Canadian conservatives) have their lips in a frozen butt kissing formation whenever looking south - it is an automatic response for them. So, this is one time that I am really happy we have a liberal government with the cojones to stand up for ourselves.

I hear it all the time....well we are against the Iraq war, but if America wants us to go.....you know we need their trade....and so it went. There was allot of controversy up here, and I felt Mr Chretien was very clever in extricating Canada from the Iraq fiasco. Still, there are some up here who think we were punished with the Mad Cow crisis because we refused to participate in Iraq.
