Learning to love the blog

All four stories were ignored or at least not noticed by the traditional, national news outlets at first.

But all four were targeted for bloggers' outrage on the Internet, which kept the fire burning until the stories produced results.

This is not some naive, Pollyanna-ish hope that "the truth will out" just because every citizen gets the chance to act as his or her own opinion journal. The truth probably is going to have to work harder than ever in this new culture. But the mainstream media have to figure out how to embrace and engage the most democratic, populist movement among consumers of information in our nation's history.

I figure our democracy is up to it.

1. it just might become the root of democracy
I think people have become estranged from one another. We don't know our neighbors, we don't go to church, we can't start political discussions at a bar. And sure as hell not at work. I'm not real sure how to connect locally to my party. I often feel like I'm posting to no one in the dark black universe. But who knows I might just be heard. And somehow, when you just 'know' that this administration is a bunch of lying, conniving thugs... it's awesome to find other people feel the same. Best of all they find real news to back it up. I love the latest breaking news at DU.
