I thought Bush said we fought these wars (were fighting these wars) so that we would be safe here at home and the terrorists wouldn't come to us. What gives?

2. An interesting new angle
"Those jihadists who survive will leave Iraq experienced in and focused on acts of urban terrorism. They represent a potential pool of contacts to build transnational terrorist cells, groups and networks," Goss said.

"The Iraq conflict, while not a cause of extremism, has become a cause for extremists," he said.

Rather than "it's better to fight the terrorists over there than here", this is "the terrorists will be tougher, because they'll get the experience of fighting over there". A surprising admission by the Bush regime.
