Relief convoy turned back from Fallujah: Red Cross (Monday)
GENEVA (AP) - A relief convoy of ambulances and supplies Monday was turned back by Iraqi authorities or U.S. Marines from entering Fallujah, a spokesman for the international Red Cross said.

Ahmed Rawi, the Baghdad spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross, said the Iraqi Red Crescent convoy of four ambulances and four trucks carrying supplies reached Fallujah General Hospital on the outskirts of the city, but was unable to go further.

The Red Crescent and Red Cross have been unable to gain access to people inside Fallujah during more than a week of fighting between U.S. and Iraqi government forces and insurgents.

...

In Baghdad, the Iraqi Red Crescent, the partner organization of the Red Cross, said the aid convoy was prevented by U.S. forces and the Iraqi government from crossing the Euphrates River into the main part of the city and were told to leave the hospital area as well.

1. On NPR a person with the convoy said
that they were not allowed in to the town, but that they were allowed to distribute their supplies to refugee camps which are abundant outside the city.

Make of that what you will.
